Perseverance Beyond Devastation

Updated: Aug 7, 2022

April 2019, in an extremely remote village over 5 hours from the nearest town, a grass church was built. This church is called Mambwe B. Bishop Ezekiel Sakala wanted to reach so far into the jungle because he knew people out there needed to hear about Christ and break away from the demonic strongholds of the witch doctors who controlled everything. Though they built a church, they had no relationship with Christ, nor did they yet understand what that meant.

During the December 2019 mission’s trip, approximately 350 people came and filled the grass church. Those who couldn’t fit inside attended from outside. During that service, 200 people got saved to Christ, 27 people were delivered from demon possession, and many were healed.

We got word at the end of December 2019 about a lady from that village who went out gathering fruit. While she was out, a lion attacked her. A village man ran out to try and scare the lion away from the lady. The lion instead turned, killed and devoured the man.

But this village has perseverance. Beyond such devastation, hardship, lack of funds, and being told by neigh sayers that a church in this village would never make it, they are growing! After experiencing the Power of God in that December missions service with so many hearing the gospel message, seeing signs and wonders, and coming to Christ, they have not only lasted, but the church is growing in number and developing spiritually! Now, through all kinds of adversity, they are building a new church!

The man who was killed by the lion attended the December 2019 missions service and gave his life to Christ that night with a full understanding of what that meant. Had a church not been erected in this village, the gospel message of Jesus Christ not been delivered, and a call to repentance and salvation not been presented, this man would have died apart from Christ; apart from God. But that is not his story!

Many churches are being erected in different remote villages. We need help to complete them. Pray about this and if the Lord puts it on your heart to assist, please don’t hesitate! It’s because of your love and compassion that the Word of God continues to reach the most remote of areas; and isn’t that what Christ commissioned us to do? So, thank YOU for helping us continue making this possible!

The village man is rejoicing in heaven today! Take a moment to rejoice too! All for the Glory of God!

“Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.” -Acts 20:28
