What's in a Name?

Updated: Aug 7, 2022

We chose the name Chikoka for one of our goats because of two reasons.

In 2018, we visited a village in Zambia where the people were bound by the demonic. After sharing with them the love of Christ, hundreds were awakened to a new way of living... living with hope and joy because they have decided to follow Jesus! There were a couple young men present who were witch doctors sent to disrupt the service and "get rid" of the messenger. Rather, they were freed from the demons binding them and they were baptized to Christ the following morning. This village was called Chikoka.

Chikoka means "Influence" - which is the second reason. We want to be influential. We want people to see the love of Christ in us so much that they want it too. We also want our goats to influence someone to want to help a people they may never meet in their lifetime by providing them with a goat of their own. What this will do for a family in Zambia; it will help them be able to send their children to school as well as help them provide food for their family!

We couldn't imagine a more fitting name!
